The Kellam, Weaver-Fagan & Hastee Educational Scholarships were established by order of the Circuit Court for the City of Hampton (Chancery No. 31689) and have supported Hampton public school students since 1993. The trust’s purpose is to help students who combine strong academic performance with active service to their school, neighborhood, place of worship, family, and/or the City of Hampton. The Committee hopes recipients will return after college to make even greater contributions to the community. The Scholarship Selection Committee welcomes applications from students who satisfy the eligibility criteria below.

In December 2008 the Peninsula Community Foundation of Virginia joined with the York Foundation for Public Education, Inc. to oversee the Michael J. Tylavsky, Jr. Memorial Scholarship, established in memory of the former principal of Tabb High School. Chris King was a percussionist with the Lassiter High School Band from 2011 to 2015. He passed away in April 2016. Chris treasured his time in the LHS Band and the friendships he formed there.
