Overview
Haque Law, a Houston-based personal injury firm, is launching the Wings of Expression scholarship to back emerging student artists as they pursue higher education. The award includes a $2,500 scholarship plus $500 for art supplies. The program asks applicants to design a wing-themed mural that encourages people to pose for photos and conveys an uplifting message. The selected student will paint their winning mural on an eight-foot by six-foot wall in Houston, and Haque Law will document and share the painting process on social media.
Deadline
All applications must be received by April 1, 2026.
Who may apply
- Open to students enrolled at U.S. trade schools, technical schools, colleges, or graduate programs.
- Applicants must accept the scholarship’s terms and submit every required item by the April 1, 2026 deadline.
- Winners must be able to travel to Houston on their own (provide their own transportation) to receive the award and complete the mural installation.
Award
- $2,500 toward the student’s academic expenses.
- $500 allocated for art materials.
- Opportunity to design and paint an 8' x 6' wing-inspired mural with the creation process featured on Haque Law’s social channels.
How to apply
Complete the scholarship application form on this page and include the following:
1. Contact information.
2. A preliminary sketch or concept design for an eight-foot by six-foot wing mural, accompanied by photos (if available) and a short statement explaining your inspiration.
3. A short video (roughly 2–3 minutes) showing your brainstorming and creative process for the mural.
Video upload instructions
- Upload your process video to YouTube and set it as unlisted.
- Include the unlisted YouTube link in your application.
Video content suggestions
- Show how you developed your concept and any iterations you considered.
- You may include footage of peers or community members reacting to or posing with your artwork.
- Keep the video concise—around 2–3 minutes maximum.
Selection and logistics
The chosen artist will be expected to travel to Houston to paint the mural on an 8' x 6' wall. Haque Law will promote the installation and painting process on social media. Applicants must be willing to comply with the scholarship’s terms and conditions and the logistical requirements for completing the mural in Houston.
