Debbie Van Cleave Scholarship

Introduction and Background
The scholarship was created by Debbie Van Cleave’s parents to honor her memory. Debbie was a celebrated East Tennessee potter whose artistic skill remained undiminished despite her blindness. The fund supports legally blind students from the region who are pursuing post-secondary education.
Award Amount
One-year scholarship of $1,400.
Who Is Eligible
- Graduating high school seniors or students already enrolled in college.
- Permanent residence within the East Tennessee Foundation’s 25-county service area.
- Legally blind: visual acuity of 20/200 or worse after correction, or a visual field limited to 20 degrees or less.
- Demonstrated financial need sufficient to require assistance to attend college.
How to Apply
Submit the East Tennessee Foundation Common Application between December 15 and March 15 to be considered for this and other scholarship opportunities.
