The Nevada Promise Scholarship, established by the Nevada Legislature, is a last-dollar scholarship that provides almost tuition-free community college education to Nevada high school graduates. It covers up to three years of tuition and other compulsory fees not met by other gift aid.
For those graduating in the Class of 2026, it's crucial to apply between August 1st and October 31st and fulfill all necessary requirements to maintain eligibility.
Eligibility Criteria
For the 2025-2026 application cycle of the Nevada Promise Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Reside in Nevada (as per Title 4, chapter 15 of the Board of Regents Handbook).
- Not possess an associate or bachelor's degree.
- Fulfill one of the following educational prerequisites:
- Be a graduate from a Nevada public or private high school, OR
- Be a graduate from a public high school in a border-county that admits Nevada residents; OR
- Have completed a high school equivalency (GED, HiSET, or TASC), chosen by the State Board of Education in accordance with NRS 390.055 before turning 20.
- Homeschooled students must pass a high school equivalency exam (i.e., GED, HiSET, or TASC) by June 15, 2026.
- Enroll in a minimum of 12 credits in an associate degree, bachelor's degree, or eligible certificate of achievement program in the fall semester following graduation
- Adhere to all necessary steps and deadlines (available online).
